Belmont Abbey Defeats Converse College
Spartanburg, SC— Belmont Abbey defeated Converse College 8-0 in today’s game. With the loss, Converse drops to 2-10 overall. The Crusaders improved to an overall record of 9-3.
Erin Kolb would pick up her first goal of two early in the game at the 3rd minute for the visiting team. Three minutes later Stephanie Leotii would pick up the first of her two goals scored, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 advantage early in the game. At the 20th minute Stephanie Leotii would strike again to put Belmont Abbey up by 3 goals. One minute after Leotii’s goal, Erin Kolb would pick up her second goal of the game. As the clock ticked down before the half LaKesha Bell scored with 4.5 seconds remaining to put the Crusaders up 5-0 at half-time.
In the 53rd minute, the Crusaders would again strike. This time it would be Erin Thibodeau. On a penalty kick, Laisha Lentz would connect to put the Crusaders up 7-0 with 16:40 remaining in the game. The last goal of the game came at the 85th minute with an assist from Courtney Paquin to Kristin Voirin to end the game with a final score of 8-0.
Converse will travel to Newberry College this Thursday in Newberry, SC. Kick off is set for 4:00pm.
