In order to complete any of the M.Ed. advanced degree programs in The School of Education and Graduate Studies, candidates must meet three benchmarks in the program. Below is an overview of what is required to meet each of these benchmarks.
In order to be admitted to the M.Ed. program and move to Benchmark 1, you must complete the following:
| Submit official transcripts indicating an earned undergraduate degree from a recognized college or university and any other coursework since graduation |
Only two professional development courses may count towards the M.Ed. Students may count up to nine transfer credit hours towards the M.Ed., provided the student completed the courses with a B average and within the previous five years.

| Verify a cumulative 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale of college work (2.50 for provisional admission) |

| Verify an undergraduate teacher education program |
| Submit a copy of teaching certificate |
| Submit a copy of PRAXIS II Specialty Area scores |
| Submit a completed application form |
| Submit two letters of recommendation including at least one from an academic source |
| Submit a $40 application fee |
| Submit a biographical data form |
| Submit an admissions essay |
In order to move to Benchmark 2, you must complete the following:
Complete EDU 500f: M.Ed. Clinical - Teacher Work Sample |
Teacher work sample guidelines are available on the Converse College Electronic Portfolio system powered by LiveText. Candidates may not accrue more than 18 hours before completing EDU 500f. |
| Complete a total of 18 hours including professional development and transfer courses |
The 18 hours includes professional development and transfer courses. For questions on total credit hours attained, contact your adviser. |
| Maintain an overall 3.0 average in academic and professional areas |

In order to move to Benchmark 3, you must complete the following:
| Complete EDU 500g: M.Ed. Clinical- National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Portfolio |

| Complete a total of 36 credit hours towards the advanced degree |

| Complete the graduate questionnaire |

| Complete the Application for Degree |
