''Yeah, that's not a steep hill you're running to the finish. Just imagine it is an ant mound.''
Hello,
Okay, so do not take this following statement as a reflection of my philosophy on life:
“Trample the weak,
Hurdle the Dead.”
So, what comes to mind when you here these words? Could it be a war between Athens and Sparta? Maybe, it is a horror film you saw last week?
Well, I have to say you are all wrong! Introducing the new motto for the cross country team:
Our coach is too much sometimes. We all almost died when we got our pullovers with that intimidation tactic plastered on the back. My mom thought that it was funny; my dad thought it was a little extreme (a long with the rest of the public). I personally think it is TOTALLY AWESOME. The expressions on people’s faces when we walk by in our pullovers are priceless. Our conference meet is this Saturday at Belmont Abbey. I feel pretty positive about it. The team as a whole has been progressing nicely, and I have managed to keep my injuries to a minimum. (I am going to knock on wood.) However, in the back of my mind I do have some fears. I mean, what if all the hard work we have done is not reflected in this meet Saturday. It bothers me that we can do well all season, but this one meet is the deciding factor for our success or failure. (I think the negativity in that last sentence was colder than the weather this week.) On the other hand, this is our one opportunity to show other teams we are more that capable of winning.
Running has become a large part of my life lately. No, it is not because of cross country, but I am always so busy. If I had to choose a few words to describe my life they would be “restless”, “crowded”, and “prayerful.” It seems like I never get any sleep. I never have enough time to fit the things I am obligated to do into my schedule. Then, I am ALWAYS praying that I will not fall asleep in class, before class, or during lunch. Even my weekends have lost their luster as of late. This past weekend, I spent most of it doing my take home exam for Finance370. It took me sixteen hours to take that blasted exam! The sad part is it only had twelve problems. I even skipped my Accounting class to finish it. So, technically, you can add another two-and-a-half hours to that. My hard work paid off. I made a hundred, but “sheesh.” Professor Maynard warned us that that is what it would take to do well in his class. After taking that exam, I understand why I have done so poorly on prior tests. Professor Maynard once said, “You cannot have a life if you want to do well in Finance.” He said it with a smile on his face. However, he was obviously not kidding. To those who need Finance, definitely invest in the study guide and USE it! It absolutely helps.
Speaking of help, it helps to remember you have yearbook pictures. Every year I forget when I signed to take pictures, and they come out horrible. However, I remembered this year (with the help of one of my best friends Khaloni). (Thank you Khaloni, I actually have good pictures this year because of you.) I so ordered pictures this year!
last year...
...this year
For those of you that are religous, pray for safe travels for the cross country team. We also accept good luck, well wishes, and free food!
