The 2011-2012 season marks the second year of the cross country program under head coach Andrew Burnette.  During his first season at the helm of the Valkyries cross country program, Burnette moved the program from 5th place the previous year to 3rd at the 2010 Conference Carolinas XC Championships.  Converse has established the Top 2 All-Time 5k marks and Top 3 All-Time 6k times in school history during his 1st year over the program.

Before Converse, Burnette served as the assistant cross country coach at powerhouse TC Roberson High School during the 2009 season under head coach Andrew Devine.   Burnette graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a BA in Mass Communication in 2009.  While at UNCA, Burnette was a Big South All-Conference runner, Big South All-Academic team member, and team captain for the cross country and track and field teams.  Andrew was also a two-time cross country MVP and was in the top 5 in school history for three different track and field events upon graduating from UNCA.

Burnette is a USA Track and Field Level 1 certified coach.  He and his wife Julie live in Spartanburg.
