Valkyries Basketball Signs Jasmine Simmons

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Head basketball coach, Joanna Tincher, has announced the signing of Jasmine Simmons to a national letter of intent.  Simmons, a 5-4 guard from Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville, SC will join the Valkyries for the 2010-2011 season.

"We are excited to add Jasmine to our team," stated Tincher.  "She came from a great program both athletically and academically, and will be a great fit for Converse.  Jasmine has a great passion for the game, and will fit well in our system.  We are glad to welcome her and her parents to the Converse family." 

Simmons enjoyed a successful prep career for the Panthers at Pinewood where she was a three-sport athlete.  She was named the 2008-2009 Girls' Basketball Player of the Year by the SCISA and the High School Sports Report, and led her team to their first girls' state basketball championship during her junior year.

As a senior, Jasmine was selected to the SCISA All-State Basketball team, and chosen to play in the SCISA vs. GISA All-Star game where she scored 34 points.  She was also a member of the SCISA All-Region volleyball team and helped the Panthers soccer team win a state championship. 

Jasmine was selected by the coaches at Pinewood Preparatory School as the 2009-2010 Female Athlete of the Year.
