Converse College Volleyball Announces 2010 Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse College head volleyball coach Regina Schantz announced the schedule for the 2010 season.
The Valkyries start their season with four home matches, three of which are conference matches against St. Andrews (Sept. 4), Lees McRae (Sept. 6), and Coker (Sept. 7).
Next, they will travel to Charleston, WV for the University of Charleston Volleyball Invitational (Sept. 10-11). Converse will take on the University of Charleston, Bluefield College, West Liberty, and West Virginia Wesleyan.
"I am excited about playing in this tournament," stated Schantz, who enters her second year as head coach. "Playing these types of teams on the road, in a big atmosphere, will prepare us for the high pressure games later in the season."
After returning from the University of Charleston Volleyball Invitational the Valkyries will play conference foe Erskine on Sept.14, before taking on Wofford (Sept.15).
"This is the first time in four years that we have played Wofford," said Schantz. "We are trying to renew the volleyball atmosphere in Spartanburg, and I think that this game will play a big part in that."
The team will be on the road for four matches to face Barton (Sept. 17), Mount Olive (Sept. 18), Belmont Abbey (Sept. 24), and Lees-McRae (Sept. 25) before returning home on Sept. 28 to play Limestone.
The Valkyries will play Pfeiffer (Oct. 1), Queens (Oct. 2) and Belmont Abbey (Oct. 8) at home before playing on the road for their next four matches.
After a three-game home stand, Schantz's club finishes the season with road contest at Pfeiffer (Nov. 5) and Queens (Nov. 6) who they split matches with in 2009.
