Converse Announces New Basketball Assistant
SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse College Director of Athletics Joy Couch and head basketball coach Joanna Tincher have announced that Sara Malone has been named the new assistant coach for the Valkyries basketball program.
Malone comes to Converse after an impressive playing career at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, FL where she played point guard for the Seahawks.
“This will be a smooth transition for Sara because as a point guard you have to be a coach on the floor,” stated Tincher. “Her experience leading her team on the floor along with the exposure she has had on the recruiting scene in the Northeast, and coaching AAU have all prepared her well for this opportunity.”
Malone, a native of Albany, NY is co-founder of Your Choice Sports which provides private basketball lessons to ages 10-16. While at Northwood University, she helped her team to four conference championships in The Sun Conference while garnering All-Conference Academic honors.
