Spartanburg, SC – Marisa Esformes (Miami, Florida) has signed a national letter of Intent to play basketball next season at Converse College, head coach Joanna Tincher announced Monday.

Marisa Esformes“When I saw Marisa play in the summer, I knew she had an energy that would benefit our team,” commented Coach Joanna Tincher. “She is a great student, and will excel in the classroom and on the court at Converse College. I look forward to the hard working attitude she will bring to our program over the next four years.” 

Marisa (5-10), a guard from Hollywood Christian Academy and daughter of Carla Berkowitz and Leonard Esformes, has had an impressive high school career. On the court, she was MVP her freshman year and was selected to the Lisa Ingram Invitational All Star Team.  In addition to her success on the court, Marisa maintained honor roll with a 4.0 throughout her entire high school career. “I chose Converse because I love the academic environment and it is a simply beautiful,” she said. “I really liked the basketball team and coaching staff and feel like I will thrive here.”

Millette Terrell (Charlotte, NC) has also signed her national letter of intent to play basketball at Converse College next year.

“I’m excited about the addition of Millette in the Fall of 2010.  Her athleticism will enhance our presence on the boards,” commented Coach Joanna Tincher. Millette Terrell“Her versatility will allow her to be a set shooter, a vital asset to our offense. I look forward to the next four years with the enthusiasm that she will bring to our team.”

Millette, daughter of Wayne Terrell Sr., played at Hickory Grove Christian where she earned Metrolina All-Conference Award and helped lead her team as the 3A State Championship Runner-Up. “I chose Converse because of the wide range of opportunities they were able to offer,” she commented. “Converse will both propel me towards my future career goals with their amazing pre-medical program and allow me to continue playing basketball at a high level.”
