Converse Tennis Ends Regular Season with Fourth Win in a Row
4-13-2010 Newberry, SC - The Converse Tennis team traveled to Newberry College to play their final regular season match. The Valkyries would come out victorious with a 7-2 win. The only losses in the match came from the number one singles and doubles spot.
The Valkyries look for these four wins to propel them in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. This will be Converse’s first Conference Tournament berth in three years. Seniors Rachel Wilikes’ (Chapin, SC) and Lee Canty’s (Union, SC) last appearance at the tournament was their freshmen year.
“I’m very pleased with my team’s effort and determination this year,” commented Coach Steve Cook, after the victory. “The team deserves this, especially the four seniors. I can’t think of a better way to end their senior season.”
Conference Carolinas Tournament is hosted by Erskine College at Sumter’s Plametto T.C., South Carolina. Tournament play will begin Friday April 16th and end Sunday April 18th.
