Tennis Signs High Ranking South Carolina Player

SPARTANBURG, SC-Converse College Athletics recently announced the signing of Ariel Strong of Cassatt, SC to play Tennis for the Valkyries beginning in the 2010-2011 academic year. Strong is senior at North Central High School and is currently ranked 16th in South Carolina (USTASC). Earlier this year, in August, she won the 18 and under girls title in the National Public Parks Tennis Championships.

In addition to tennis, Ariel has competed for on her high school's cross country and golf teams. She is academically accomplished and has served as student body president.

"Ariel has proven her dedication to tennis and we're pleased to welcome her to our team," said head Converse tennis coach Steve Cook. "She is a talented athlete who has shown the ability to compete in various sports and excel in tennis. She will bring a great deal of experience to our program."

The Converse College tennis squad will open its 2010 spring season when they visit Erskine College in Due West, SC on February 5th.
