Ashley Arff to participate in WBCA Coaching Program
SPARTANBURG, SC - Converse College standout basketball player Ashley Arff has been chosen to participate in a workshop called So You Want to be a Coach, hosted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in San Antonio, TX, from April 2-4 in conjunction with the Women's Final Four.
"Ashley will benefit greatly from the program," says Converse basketball coach Joanna Tincher. "This will add to all the leadership and advancement for women that Ashley has learned while being a student athlete at Converse College. You can look at the class for this and see young women from the ACC, Big Ten, SEC and other powerhouse conferences. I think that says a lot about the type of young woman Ashley is that she is among those selected."
Arff, a 6-foot-0 senior from Fox Lake, IL, was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on Dec. 15, 2009. The senior guard/forward will participate in a program designed to increase the amount of women in the coaching profession.
"The WBCA continues to remain committed to the development of women's basketball coaches and the So You Want To Be A Coach program has seen such a positive uptick over the last eight years," said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. "The WBCA will continue to make strides in this program and is dedicated to helping diversify the women's game."
