This guide is designed to help you plan your academic program to meet the general education program (GEP) requirements necessary to complete a bachelor’s degree at Converse.

In order to transfer from another institution, students must submit a completed application for transfer admission and the following credentials as indicated:

  • applicants who have not completed 30 hours of college work must submit the most recent official college transcripts from all colleges attended and an official high school transcript including SAT or ACT scores;
  • applicants who have completed 30 or more hours of college work must submit the most recent official college transcripts from all colleges attended;
  • applications for admission can be obtained from the Converse College Admissions Office or online

Converse reserves the right to determine whether any particular course meets the requirements and standards for transfer. Although a course may be transferable, it may not necessarily apply to a particular major, program or degree. Refer to the current Converse catalog and compare your classes with the required courses. Courses not listed in this guide may not transfer. Please contact the Admissions Office for clarification on specific courses at 800-766-1125, 864-596-9040 or admissions@converse.edu.

A course is considered for transfer credit provided a grade of "C" or better is earned. Credits transferred to Converse are not used in computing the student's grade point average at Converse. Remedial courses are not accepted for transfer credit.

Students must complete the last 42 hours of credit at Converse, and satisfy the GEP in order to earn a degree from Converse. The Ideas and Culture 150 and 151 courses are required for Converse students. Students are required to take a 2 credit-hour wellness course with a fitness component and one 1 or 2 credit-hour course from among PE and Dance courses. Students entering through the Converse II program (designed for students 24 years of age and older) are exempt from the two-course physical education requirement. To fulfill General Education requirements at Converse, students must complete two different laboratory sciences courses (for example, biology and chemistry). If a student has taken two science courses in the same area (for example, two biology classes), she will be required to take an additional science at Converse in order to complete the requirements for a degree.

To ensure a smooth transition, we recommend that transfer students apply for admission for Fall Term by June 1st. Shortly after admission, you will receive an official evaluation of your courses and how they will transfer to Converse. Once your deposit is received, you may schedule an appointment with the Director of Advising for initial advising. You can reach the Director of Advising at 800-766-1125.

Converse College does not discriminate in admissions or employment on the basis of race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin, age, sexual orientation, religion or disability.
