The Emerging Spirit

A Sculpture Exhibition by Berry Bate ’75

A series of 12 thought-provoking sculptures by Converse alumna Berry Bate, a pioneer in the traditionally male-dominated arena of metal sculpture artists, is on display across the Converse campus through March 2011. The series celebrates the sense of unity, support, spirituality and strength that connects women.

An exhibition map and brochure is available at The Emerging Spirit sculpture located in front of Wilson Hall on the front lawn of the campus. The public is welcome to view the exhibition during daylight hours. Group tours are also available upon request. For tour information and scheduling, contact Kathryn Boucher, Director of Milliken Gallery, at kathryn.boucher@converse.edu.

The Emerging Spirit is made possible through the support of the McKinney-Jernigan Creativity Grant at Converse College. Converse also appreciates the partnership of Carolina First and Mr. and Mrs. William S. Hummers III.

Several pieces in the exhibition are available for acquisition. For pricing and information, contact Ms. Bate at 828.508.6667.
