Religious Life

The Chaplain’s Office of Converse College coordinates the Connector Family Program for first-year students. A connector family is a local family in the Spartanburg community who offers hospitality to the Converse student to help her adjust to college life.

The connector family serves as your “connection” to the Spartanburg community and can help familiarize you with things that you may need to know: where to shop, where to eat, where to find a good dentist, etc. A connector family may take you to lunch, invite you to dinner, introduce you to people in a local church or temple, serve as a resource for emergency situations in addition to the Converse staff, help you find a part-time job or opportunities for babysitting.

Connector families are provided only upon request by the student. The Chaplain will do his best to find a connector family for each student who requests one. However, this program is dependent on the number of people who volunteer from the community and a connector family cannot be guaranteed for every student.
