| Staffed by a full-time Registered Nurse, the Health Services Department at Converse College is an outpatient service for evaluating health problems with treatment of minor illnesses or injuries. Referrals are made to local physicians for treatment of more serious health problems.
Health Services is staffed by a full-time Registered Nurse. Lisa M. Lefebvre, R.N. B.S.N., has been a nurse for many years. She has worked in several different fields in medicine including medical, surgical, and cardiovascular inpatient and outpatient units at Duke Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Hospital. She has also worked with blood and pheresis collection, and staff training with the American Red Cross. Students may see the nurse during normal hours of operation by scheduling an appointment at extension 9258.
The Doctor's Clinic is staffed Dr. Lance Miller or Roberta Jennings, F.N.P. Appointments are required for the Doctor's Clinic and can be made by calling ext. 9258. You will be charged a $20.00 fee for these visits.
Available lab work includes urine, strep, mono, and pregnancy tests. Students may obtain over-the-counter medications upon request from the nurse. Prescriptions for medications are available from the family practitioner during the Doctor's Clinic. Charges for prescription medication are the responsibility of the student.
Referrals can be made at a student's request if she requires the services of another physician, dentist or specialist.
There are various supplies for loan through Health Services which students may use in their rooms. These supplies are free, but if not returned students will be charged for their replacement.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Health information is confidential. We must have the student's permission to discuss any health information with other professions, professors, parents, etc. The only exception is when in the judgment of the Health Services staff such disclosure is necessary to protect you or someone else from serious harm.
