Converse's location is ideal for a college student.  Other colleges in the area include  Wofford, Furman, USC Upstate, and Clemson.

Converse is part of the College Town Consortium which is comprised of Converse College, Sherman College, Spartanburg Methodist College, Spartanburg Technical College, University of South Carolina Upstate, and Wofford College. This consortium plans social and academic events for area college students.

The proximity to neighboring colleges provides  opportunity to socialize with other college students. For example, Converse women have traditionally had a strong relationship with the co-educational  Wofford student body, just a couple of miles away. 

The Converse women experience the benefits of a single gender education, yet there are plenty of opportunities to socialize with men.
