A college is more than just a place to learn—it’s your home away from home. At Converse College, we are committed to making sure you have all you need to feel at home.
Each of our seven residence halls are within a five-minute walk to all of your classes and labs. You will also be within walking distance of downtown Spartanburg, where a number of social activities are hosted by College Town - a partnership of all six colleges in Spartanburg County.
Our Montgomery Student Center is equipped with state-of-the-art computer equipment, a game room, a cyber café, meeting spaces, a chapel, student organization office space, comfortable gathering spaces with a fireplace as the centerpiece, and Sneakers which is open during the day and evening, and offers a full grill, Starbucks coffee, and more!
You can catch a match or game of our Converse All-Stars as they compete in basketball, volleyball, cross country, tennis, and soccer. Our Career Services and Academic Support departments provide you with assistance and guidance as you prepare for life after college. The Wellness Center is staffed with a registered nurse, a chaplain, and counselors (both full-time and part-time). Our renowned Mary Wilson Gee Dining Hall serves delicious meals three times a day, seven days a week when residence halls are open. The Campus Safety Department operates 24 hours a day and provides personal safety programs, bulletins, and after-dark escort service to all students.
Because Converse is an all women’s environment, leadership opportunities on campus abound. We also offer several special programs which serve to enhance these opportunities and teach valuable leadership skills. Freshmen have an opportunity to lead before the academic year begins through our award-winning Summer Serve program in which participants can choose one of two three-day sessions during which they will live on campus, meet in small groups with upper-class students, and volunteer at several community agencies.
The Julia Jones Daniels Center for Leadership and Service provides you with an abundance of opportunities to learn, serve, and lead. The Center has four primary areas: Service Learning, Community Service, Leadership Programs, and Special Projects.
Through its programs, the Center fosters an interest in community service and leadership, creates engaging learning environments, prepares students for lives of civic responsibility, recognizes outstanding student leaders and those who have done outstanding work in the community, and builds relationships between the college and the Spartanburg community.
