The Alia Lawson Pre-College Program at Converse College is pleased to announce Scholarship Auditions for study during the 2008-2009 academic year.

• Two compositions in contrasting styles
• Performance time – Minimum: three minutes, Maximum: five minutes Memorization is recommended for one composition. Accompanists are not provided or required; however, they do add a professional quality to the performance, and are therefore recommended.

• Thursday, April 24: Strings, Winds/Brass, Guitar
• Saturday, April 26: Piano, Voice, Dance, Chamber, Adult, Youth Soloist

The Dicksie Cribb Instrumental Chamber Scholarship Competition is a special audition held during our scholarship weekend. Eligibility as to age is the same as above. Chamber groups of 3-10 members are asked to perform a 5-minute audition of 1 or more compositions. The winning ensemble will work together for the entire 2008-2009 school year, receiving 8 – 45 minute coaching sessions each semester with a Pre-College faculty member. (A student does not have to be studying privately in our program to participate in this chamber program.)

The Youth Soloist Competition will also be held during our scholarship audition weekend. A separate application form listing requirements is available in our office. The winner of this audition will perform with the Greater Spartanburg Philharmonic on its Youth Concert and with the Converse Symphony Orchestra on its Young Artist Series.
