Anne Lipe, Ph.D., MT-BC, Assistant Professor of Music Therapy, holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Voice Performance, an Equivalency Certificate in Music Therapy and a doctorate in human growth and development. She has been a music therapist for twenty-seven years, and has served clients in hospice settings, inursing homes and adult day care centers. Prior to coming to Converse College, she held positions as Adjunct Associate Professor of music therapy at Shenandoah University, Interim Director of Music Therapy at Marywood University, and Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Therapy at Tennessee Technological University. She has been published in the area of music therapy and dementia, and along with colleague Elizabeth York, recently completed research on their two music-based assessment instruments for people with dementia. Dr Lipe also has been published and has presented at professional conferences in the area of music therapy and spirituality.
