Siegwart Reichwald, associate professor of Music History at Converse
College holds the BM degree in Organ Performance, and the MM in
Orchestral Conducting, the Ph.D. in Historical Musicology from Florida
State University. His principal research interests are in the music of
Felix Mendelssohn, the Classic/Romantic period, and Orchestral
Performance Practice. Dr. Reichwald’s dissertation dealt with the
compositional process of Mendelssohn’s oratorio Paulus, which was
published by Scarecrow Press. He is the author of articles on music by
Mendelssohn, Brumel, and Poulenc. Professor Reichwald also conducts the
Converse Symphony Orchestra.
