Ian Brachitta
Double Bass

Mr. Ian Brachitta is a native of Westchester County in New York. He performs as a bassist in the classical, jazz and popular idioms. He is currently the assistant principal bassist of the Greenville Symphony (SC) and its chamber orchestra, principal bass of the Heritage Chamber Orchestra (SC) and Spartanburg Philharmonic (SC), section chair with the Charlotte Symphony (NC) and other regional orchestras in the tri-state area. He has performed jazz with Diane Schuur, Chris Vadalla, John Stowell and Hod O'Brien. Mr. Brachitta’s jazz trio has performed throughout North and South Carolina featuring his arrangements. He has performed with the national Broadway tours of Sugar Babies, A Chorus Line, Annie Get Your Gun, West Side Story, Grease, Victor Victoria, Chicago, The Sound Of Music, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Ragtime. He has made appearances with Burt Bacharach, The Fifth Dimension, Rich Little, Shirley Jones, Carol Channing, Carol Lawrence, and Mitzi Gaynor among others. Mr. Brachitta performs with the New York based chamber ensemble Synchronicity, whose debut recording was released in July of 2000. The ensemble made its New York City debut in November of 2001.

Mr. Brachitta has performed on regional commercials and industrial soundtracks. He appears on the following recordings: Synchronicity Like Minds, Joe Burke Simply Romantic on Revere records, Oracle Evasive Actions, Peggy Lynn Haden I’m Glad There Is You, Split Decision on MCA records. He is presently on the adjunct faculties of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, Furman University, Converse, Erskine and North Greenville Colleges. He received his Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, studied Jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and attended the Westchester Conservatory during High school. Mr. Brachitta has studied with Donald Palma, Orin O’Brien, Salvatore Macchia, Michael Moore and William Blossom.
