DEPARTMENT OF PERFORMANCE

Petrie School voice students receive comprehensive training at all stages of development. In addition to individual training with professional faculty members, students are encouraged to participate in the school’s three choral ensembles: the Converse Chorale, the Chamber Singers, and the Spartanburg Festival Chorus. Voice students also participate in the Converse Opera Theatre.
Recent masterclasses have been taught by Marilyn Horne and John Wustman. Graduates of the voice program have gone on to complete successful graduate studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Converse College, the Longy School of Music in Boston, the New England Conservatory, the Manhattan School of Music, and other major institutions.
