“Growing up in my household, I was always given the opportunity to be my own person and to find ways to be creatively involved in the world around me. In high school, I worked very heavily with the Special Education classes as well as the art club. Teaching and art were passions of mine, and I struggled with finding a way to satisfy them both. At the suggestion of my art teacher, I decided to research art therapy because it sounded like an incredible career opportunity. The art therapy program at Converse in particular stood apart as especially interesting.
I took a tour of the Converse campus with my mother and, as horribly cliché as it sounds, I fell in love with college from the feeling I got when walking around. Everyone I met was so nice but also very candid about what Converse had to offer. During the visit, I was also able to
meet and speak one-on-one with the art teachers.
Three years later, it is easy to see how successful Converse has been in helping me fine tune my life skills and personal development, and has provided an educational arena where I have been able to thrive. I can't imagine myself at a huge university where I would feel so lost and unimportant.”
