Located in the Upstate region of South
Carolina, Spartanburg is the sixth largest city in the
state. Mixing Southern culture and hospitality with
traditions and cultures of other countries, Spartanburg is
indeed South Carolina’s melting pot.
Spartanburg is truly a "College Town," boasting six institutions of higher learning providing opportunities for students interested in a variety of paths. With more than 10,000 students matriculating in Spartanburg County each year, the College Town atmosphere is enhanced each fall as they return to classes. The colleges and the community have begun offering joint social and academic programming to bring the strength of these institutions together to enhance the quality of the college experience for the students and faculty while showcasing the importance of the institutions to the community.
Spartanburg’s ideal proximity to the North Carolina mountains, the South Carolina coast, and major cities such as Atlanta and Charlotte, make Spartanburg a very attractive place to live. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, located twenty minutes west of the city, is served by six major airlines and provides convenient transportation to and from the city.
More than 100 international firms—including German auto maker BMW—make Spartanburg an international and cultural center. This makes Spartanburg a perfect place for internship and job placement opportunities. In fact, many local and regional companies visit the campus each year to recruit Converse graduates. |
