How to Apply for Financial Aid

1. Complete an application for admission before or during the fall of  senior year. Although admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis, students are encouraged to apply as early as possible to receive priority consideration for scholarships and financial aid.

2. Visit Converse for a planned program or for an individual visit scheduled through the Office of Admissions by calling 1-800-766-1125. Information on campus programs and registration forms can be found by visiting http://www.converse.edu/admissions/previewdays.html.

3. Converse College offers scholarships for academics, music, leadership, athletics, visual arts, and theatre. Initial scholarship offers to qualifying students will be made at the time of admission. These students will be invited to participate in the Scholarship competitions listed in the "Scholarship Opportunities" section. You can quickly calculate what your scholarship will be using the Scholarship Calculator.

4. As soon as possible after January 1, students should complete and return the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Office of Financial Assistance will automatically mail these forms to all applicants on or before December 15th. The forms are also available in high school guidance offices and online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . The FAFSA code for Converse College is 003431.

Students from South Carolina should be aware of the June 30th deadline when applying for the South Carolina Tuition Grant.

5. The Office of Financial Assistance will begin sending award letters on March 1st. Once they have the FAFSA results, an award letter will be sent  within 48 hours.

6. Once the award is received, review, sign, and return it within two weeks.

7. In order to reserve financial aid awards, scholarship offers and a space in the freshman class, please pay the reservation fee by May 1st.
