The Distinguished Alumna Award is presented to a graduate in recognition of outstanding achievement in her field, service to her community and loyalty to Converse. With thirty-eight years of professional experience as an interior designer in both commercial and residential design, Sally has worked the breadth of the east coast—from as far as Stowe, Vermont and as far west as Dallas and Kansas City. She is currently President of Pulliam Morris Interiors with eighteen employees, five of whom are Converse alumnae. Throughout her time with Pulliam Morris, Sally has made a point of arranging for internships for Converse students. Sally is presently serving on the Architectural Review Committee at the University of South Carolina and on the Board of the Columbia Committee of the National Society of the Colonial Dames. Her active service for Junior League of Columbia was reflected in her tenure on the Board as Chairman of three different committees. As a sustainer, she provided critical leadership in raising funds to secure a permanent League headquarters. Sally’s commitment to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia, South Carolina led to her serving on Vestry, the Cornerstone Campaign for the Trinity Center for Mission and Ministry, and the Building Committee. She is a current member of the Trinity Foundation Board which is leading a $6 million fundraising effort for the restoration of the Cathedral. One of the first Converse 100 Award winners (1989), Sally has served on the Alumnae Board (1988-1990), the Alumnae Association Board (1992- 1994) for which she was elected President, and the Converse Board of Trustees (1993-2003).
