Converse College's Department of Physical
Education offers strong Intramural programs in flag
football, softball, volleyball,
tennis, soccer and basketball. Soccer games are held
in the fall, basketball is in the winter, softball, tennis and flag
football are in the spring, and volleyball is offered both during the fall and spring. Participation is open to
everyone, but required for students taking physical activity
classes. Teams are formed by the students and the games are
round-robin style. Winning teams receive champion
T-shirts and a pizza party is held at the end of every
session.
Soccer- Teams must have at least
18 members to play in the October games. There will be two
fifteen-minute halves and a five-minute
halftime.
Basketball- During Winter Term, the
games will be played with ten-minute halves and a
five-minute half-time. Teams must have at least 10 members.
Volleyball- Matches will be held in
the fall and the spring, with teams comprised of at least 10
members. Volleyball plays to 15 minutes or 30 points, whichever comes first.
Tennis-
In the spring, a round robin tournament for singles and
doubles will be held.
Flag Football- During the spring games, five
to seven players are on the field at a time and the
teams can have only 15 members on the roster. The
field is fifty yards in length and the game has two
10-minute halves with a five minute halftime.
Softball- Softball will be a panther devil game in the spring.
Games will last 6 innings with normal softball rules.
