GUEST LECTURERS
Well-known personalities from around the world will bring one in direct contact with native cultures.  Converse women are given the opportunity to speak with and to learn from native speakers, writers, critics, and professors invited to Converse as guest lecturers.

Recent guest lecturers include:

  • Dr. Frederick A. de Armas' lecture on "Conjuring Helen: From Marlowe's Phantoms to Cervantes' Portraits."
  • Dr. Maria Cristina Mabrey's lecture on "Woman Stance against Patriarchy: The Case of the Spanish Republic."
  • Aminata Sow Fow, well-known Senegalese novelist whose works include La Greve des Battus and L'Appel des Arenes
  • Cheik Aliou Ndao, well-known Senegalese novelist who has written both in French and Wolof and whose works include Buur Tilleen and Un bouquet d'epines pour Elle
  • Dr. Habiha Jerad, distinguished humanities professor at the University of Tunis in Tunisia
  • Ridha Bouabid, permanent representative of the Francophonie to the United Nations
  • Carole Borne, Martinique native and Clemson University professor of French Studies
