Chemistry 

Research chemist, educator or doctoral candidate - whatever one's future, the study of chemistry helps a student understand the complex and amazing processes responsible for everyday life. At Converse, students are exposed to hands-on experience and experiential learning opportunities in and out of the laboratory setting. The Department of Chemistry at Converse prepares one for continuing success in the fields one chooses.

The 36,000-square-foot Phifer Science Hall is home to natural sciences-biology, chemistry, and biochemistry. The facility includes:
  • modern laboratories 
  • space for upper-level research and advanced learning opportunities

  • computer science laboratory
  • organic, botany, analytical, physical and environmental, and general chemistry laboratories
