Dr. Woodfin earned his B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa) from Baylor University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.  He teaches a variety of courses on the history of modern Europe, including his specialty in modern British history, as well as courses on the British Empire and Latin America, a subject to which he has a special connection since living in Viña del Mar, Chile.  He is also involved in Converse’s London Term study-abroad program.  He is currently researching and writing about the British Empire’s common soldiers in the Sinai and Palestine during World War I.  This project has taken him all the way around the world, reading letters and diaries in archives from Scotland to New Zealand.  As part of this research, he was a Fulbright Fellow for a year at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.  He is also interested in historical music and in ways of using the sounds of the past in the classroom.
