Dr. McCoy’s training is in experimental psychology with an emphasis on developmental issues and a research focus on child abuse and neglect. Her recent research deals with juror perceptions in cases of alleged fetal and child abuse as well as children’s competencies in making identifications in line-ups. She regularly publishes her work and presents her research at conferences such as meetings of The Society for Research in Child Development and the American Psychology-Law Society. Dr. McCoy also serves as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for abused and neglected children in Spartanburg County. She received the Kathryne Amelia Brown Award for excellence in teaching in 1999.
