Geri Hurlbut is a Board Certified Art Therapist, counselor and artist who has been affiliated with Alvarado Parkway Institute, La Mesa, California; Aurora Behavioral Healthcare, San Diego, California, The Meadows in Wickenburg, Arizona, and has worked in private practice. Offered a fellowship at l'Hopitalier Saint Anne, Centre d'Etudes de l'Expression in Paris France, she studied a European approach to art therapy. She taught graduate Art Therapy coursework at UCSD-Extension Studies in LaJolla, California, undergraduate coursework at the community college level, and has offered specialized workshops. She has specialized in working with clients who suffer from addictive disorders, eating disorders and have backgrounds with trauma. She has also presented and published articles for the World Psychiatric Association, the International Society for the Psychopathology of Expression (S.I.P.E.), and the Meadows Institute, and has been actively involved in the American Art Therapy Association.
As an artist, Geri has developed her skills through continued training at The Sedona Center for the Arts, San Diego Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society and currently South Carolina Watermedia Association. Media favorites include silk painting, watercolors, pastels, and acrylics.
