Merilyn Field received her B.A. degree at Converse College with a major in Psychology and Art Therapy. She also attained her M.A. degree in Art Therapy from Norwich University, Montpelier, VT.
Merilyn Field is a registered art therapist whose enthusiasm for the many facets of art therapy is evident in her work with students and community groups. Her graduate study focused on the use of art therapy in psychiatric populations; she practiced art therapy in Behavioral Health Service facilities before coming to Converse.
Professor Field’s wide range of contacts with health care professionals allow her students the opportunity to work with such diverse populations as emotionally handicapped students, developmentally delayed students, children and adolescents at risk, Alzheimer patients, cancer survivor groups, and the chronically mentally ill.
She is a member of the American Art Therapy Association, the National Coalition of Art Therapy Educators, and the President of the South Carolina Art Therapy Association.
