creating art. The BA degree offers the art major the opportunity
to double major in an area outside of art, which could include
English, Theater, or Business. A 43 hour degree, students
who chose this degree option are encouraged to experience
internships in areas of retail, gallery management, and
advertising.
BA majors will participate in a
group senior exhibition in the spring of their senior year.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
with a major in Studio Art is an intense studio experience that provides the
student an opportunity to focus on an area of her choice.
Choosing from the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking,
ceramics, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and book arts,
the studio major will develop a cohesive body of work in which
to either advance to graduate school or begin a professional
career. The BFA student receives her own semi-private studio
after admission to the BFA program through a portfolio review in
her junior year. A required one-person exhibition in the
Milliken Art Gallery during the spring of her senior year
professionally highlights her creative work.
Students are required to complete 73 credit hours in the areas of studio art and art history. |
