Design
Converse College offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Interior Design. The Interior Design program at Converse College is specifically tailored to prepare graduates for an active career in the industry. Students are taught to develop space as a functional, innovative, and pleasing environment for the client. Main points of emphasis include historical preservation, restoration, recreation, creative re-use of facilities, ergonomics, ADA codes, life safety issues, building codes, and interior construction utilizing Auto CAD software. The Interior Design program recognizes the importance of its students becoming responsible designers and understanding the need for environmentally green design. LEED standards and sustainable environmentally friendly interior design practices for both commercial and residential applications are stressed throughout the curriculum.
Upon graduation, the interior design student will have a thorough understanding of the artistic and creative applications of the principles and elements of interior design. She will also have the technical skills relevant for a successful career as a professional.
The Interior Design program is a 73 credit hour degree.
