| Converse students have numerous opportunities to study with Converse faculty as they travel to locations throughout the United States and other parts of the world.

| LONDON TERM |
The History and English Departments, in cooperation with Economics and Business, will sponsor a study/travel program to London during Winter Term 2005.
The price of the program is approximately $3500, allowing for fluctuations in the exchange rate and fuel costs.
Students may select from the following courses:
English 300/500 (Arthur and the Matter of Britain)
Economics 365/565 (Comparative Economic Systems)
and History 365/565 (Problems in Modern British History).
The itinerary includes numerous excursions and activities and a period of free travel for the more adventurous students. All courses are intended for both the general student and the major.
No prerequisites are required.

| ITALY-TUNISIA |
| Dr. Cathy West will conduct a study/travel program in France and Tunisia during January 2005. The group will go to Paris and the French Riviera where they will explore French artists’ representations of North Africa. They will go to Tunisia, a former French colony, where they will reside with families, work at an orphanage, and tour this historical country which has been influenced by Berber, Phoenician, Arab, Turkish, French and Italian cultures.
The cost of this program, everything included except lunches, will be approximately $2500.

| MEXICO |
Join Dr. Jeri King during the January Term to study in Oaxaca, Mexico, a beautiful city, rich in colonial history.
Live with Oaxacan families and take Spanish at the Institute of Communication and Culture. Since Oaxaca is the home of fourteen indigenous groups, you may explore Indian villages and learn about the beautiful hand-made crafts such as woolen rugs, pottery and woodcarvings.
Courses are offered in Spanish at all levels (265/365).
The approximate cost is $2600 (6 credits in Spanish).

| THE MIDDLE EAST |
| The National Council of US-Arab Relations will sponsor two study/travel programs: “Passages to Morocco” and “Arabic Study in Jordan.” A travel component to Syria is included in the Jordan program. Both programs last six to seven weeks in June and July and include an intensive language study component for all proficiency levels, including those beginning students with no previous knowledge of the language. Courses on Arabic culture are also available.
Nine hours of academic credit are available for either program.
The costs are from $3,500 to $4,000.
