Each year, Converse sponsors a fall break and spring break service learning trip that offers the opportunity for students to travel and serve people living in marginal communities – such as the homeless, abandoned and abused children, and the indigent elderly.
Recent trips include working with Metanoia in North Charleston, SC where students painted the interior of a house for a low income elderly person. The 2009 spring break trip includes partnering with Habitat for Humanity and their collegiate challenge in Miami, Florida.

Although students may not receive credit for these trips, they provide wonderful learning experiences in such subjects as foreign languages, economics, religion, and sociology.
